ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT

 

The General Secretariat directs administrative, human and financial resources and activities of the Union, including the implementation of the provisions of the administrative regulations on operational questions, the dissemination of information on telecommunication/ICT matters for operational and other purposes, and the provision of legal advice to the whole of the Union.  The General Secretariat coordinates the implementation of the Strategic Plan, monitors the telecommunication/ICT environment and recommends as needed action relating to the Union’s future policies and strategy.  The General Secretariat ensures inter-sectoral coordination and cooperation to advance a whole of ITU approach (One-ITU) in headquarters and the field. The General Secretariat provides logistical and information technology support to the Union’s activities including conferences and global forums; the coordination of the work of the Union with the United Nations system, and other international organizations; and the engagement of the Member States, Sector Members, and Academia. The General Secretariat manages corporate governance, and strategic communications and relations with the media, different stakeholder groups as well as the general public. 

 

Within the General Secretariat, the Financial Resources Management Department (FRMD) advises the Secretary General on financial resources management, accounting issues and procurement. It manages ITU's financial resources ensuring consistency with ITU strategies, policies, regulations and rules as well as UN Common System policies. It also ensures sound and balanced financial management of the Union; provides support and strategic advice on financial, budgetary and procurement matters, with a goal to strengthen ITU's financial system.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The consultant will play a key role in supporting the sales team by managing client accounts and processing sales orders through SAP ERP systems (SAP SD and SAP CRM), as well as through various e-commerce platforms (SAP Commerce Cloud, web services, databases). The Special Service Agreement (SSA) also involves the use of IT tools and integrations, to facilitate efficient sales operations and enhance the overall client experience.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

Under the direction of the Head of Digital Sales, The consultant will:

  • Support the creation, management, and follow-up of sales orders using SAP SD, ensuring timely and accurate processing, order confirmation, and delivery scheduling.
  • Maintain and update customer accounts in SAP SD and SAP CRM and support ongoing sales activities, client communications, and issue resolution.
  • Provide assistance in managing online sales operations through SAP Commerce Cloud and related web services, ensuring a smooth and consistent customer experience.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales team to resolve client and order-related inquiries, providing technical support to both internal teams and external clients to ensure a high level of service delivery.
  • Act as a key user for relevant systems and interfaces by analysing current processes, proposing and implementing improvements in collaboration with the SAP team, and performing quality testing prior to system updates or go-live phases.

  • Timely and accurate processing of sales orders and customer data within SAP systems (SD, CRM).
  • Up-to-date and well-maintained customer records contributing to improved client communication and follow-up.
  • Consistent technical and administrative support to the sales team, enhancing workflow efficiency and service quality.
  • Contribution to system improvements and successful testing of SAP and e-commerce functionalities, ensuring smooth and reliable operations.

COMPETENCIES

  • Proficiency in SAP ERP systems, specifically SAP SD (Sales and Distribution) and SAP CRM (Customer Relationship Management).
  • Familiarity with testing procedures and quality assurance methods for SAP systems and user interfaces.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for SAP transactions and interfaces, with the ability to escalate or coordinate with technical teams when necessary.
  • Basic understanding of web services (NodeJS), SQL database, system integrations (APIs) within the e-commerce context desirable

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

 

Education:  
Complete secondary education with a diploma OR complete equivalent technical or commercial studies with a diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. SAP certifications are desirable. 
 

Experience:  
At least five (5) years of experience in the field of the Special Service Agreement (SSA). 
A university degree in a related field can be considered as a substitute for three years of working experience.
Experience in SAP Commerce Cloud Backoffice and familiarity with e-commerce business process and digital sales channels.

 

Languages:  
Knowledge of English at advanced level.
