NEW RECRUITMENT PLATFORM

ITU introduced a new online recruitment platform, in order to provide a more user-friendly experience for applicants to ITU job vacancies.

If I already created an account in the previous system, can I use the same credentials to access my new profile?

No, the two systems are separate ones, and the password assigned is unique, therefore you will need to create a new profile with new login credentials.

Why wasn’t my profile information from the old system migrated to the new system?

Profile information from our previous system was not migrated primarily in order to respect data privacy in the event that former applicants do not wish to be considered for jobs through our new system.

Can I still access the old system in order to retrieve my previous online profile and check on the status of my ongoing applications?

Yes, you will be able to access your old online profile and monitor the status of applications submitted through the former system until 31 December 2022. You can also download your online profile from the old system as a PDF should you wish to save it for reference, or to copy information into your new profile.

If I recently applied to a vacancy announcement in the old system, do I need to resubmit my application?

No, vacancies published through the old system will be processed separately, and those published after May 22, 2022 will only be processed through the new system.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

What is a Candidate Profile?

A Candidate Profile is a special online resume, consisting of information about you. It includes the following items: personal information, address, languages skills, relatives in ITU and within the UN common system, education, employment history, trainings/accreditations/certificates, areas of expertise, computer skills, publications, references, etc. It is used to evaluate your suitability for a vacancy, as well as for administrative purposes in case you are selected to work with the ITU.

Is my Candidate Profile information kept confidential?

Yes. Your privacy, and the privacy of all users of our website, is important to us. We take every precaution to protect the information you provide.

All the personal data that you are providing via this website will be processed for the purpose of recruitment and selection and in connection to any subsequent possibility of employment with ITU, unless otherwise indicated. You can view your profile data at any time by logging in to your account. In addition, you have the right to have any data edited, removed or deleted.

VACANCY NOTICE AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Do I need to register or login to view job vacancies?

No. You can just click “Job openings” to view all the vacancies.

How do I apply for a vacancy?

In order to apply to a vacancy, you must: create an account, complete your Candidate Profile, select the vacancy of interest and submit your application for the vacancy selected. For more information, consult the section “How to apply” on the Careers site.

Do I need to apply for a particular vacancy?

Yes. You need to submit your candidature for a particular vacancy to ensure that your application will be evaluated against the vacancy in which you are interested.

Why should I use the online system?

The International Telecommunication Union is recruiting exclusively online.

The benefits of applying online allow you to:

  • Create your own personal account for future visits.
  • Return to view and update your Candidate Profile at any time.
  • Apply to more than one vacancy notice.
  • Monitor the status of vacancy notices for which you have applied.
  • Receive email correspondence about vacancy notices for which you have applied.

Can I submit an unsolicited application?

No. ITU does not consider unsolicited applications. Only applications for advertised vacancies are assessed.

However, if you request to be considered for short-term or consultant contracts or internships agreement, your CV can sometimes be pulled for evaluation for specific needs in the organization. Therefore, you need to clearly complete the information under “Contract Information” in your Candidate Profile.

In what languages are the vacancy notices published?

All vacancy notices for regular posts to be filled at Headquarters are published in English and French. Temporary vacancies, internship vacancies or consultant vacancies are published in English or French only. For posts to be filled in Regional or Area Offices, they may be published in a language which is specific to that office.

For how many vacancies can I apply?

It is up to each candidate to review the duties and responsibilities, competencies and qualifications defined for a particular vacancy, before making a decision to apply for an advertised vacancy. It is, however, preferable to only apply to posts for which you have the required qualifications.

Can I find out the final results of competitions?

When a competition is closed, all candidates who have applied receive a formal notification.

What are the steps in the recruitment process? How can I know the status of my application?

Candidates who apply online will receive an automatic notification confirming application for the vacancy. At all times, candidates may view the status of the vacancies they have applied for by logging in and clicking on « Jobs Applied».

To ensure a thorough review of applications, the selection process may take several weeks, or months to complete. Please note that only shortlisted candidates, under serious consideration are contacted further to undergo an assessment (one or more screening steps) and a competency based interview as part of the selection process, before a position can be offered.

Do I have to pay an application, processing, interviewing or training fee?

No. The ITU does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process (application, interview meeting, processing, training or any other fees). The ITU does not concern itself with information on bank accounts.
