ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT
The General Secretariat directs administrative, human and financial resources and activities of the Union, including the implementation of the provisions of the administrative regulations on operational questions, the dissemination of information on telecommunication/ICT matters for operational and other purposes, and the provision of legal advice to the whole of the Union. The General Secretariat coordinates the implementation of the Strategic Plan, monitors the telecommunication/ICT environment and recommends as needed action relating to the Union’s future policies and strategy. The General Secretariat ensures inter-sectoral coordination and cooperation to advance a whole of ITU approach (One-ITU) in headquarters and the field. The General Secretariat provides logistical and information technology support to the Union’s activities including conferences and global forums; the coordination of the work of the Union with the United Nations system, and other international organizations; and the engagement of the Member States, Sector Members, and Academia. The General Secretariat manages corporate governance, and strategic communications and relations with the media, different stakeholder groups as well as the general public.
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Under the supervision of the designated officer, the intern will:
- Conduct desk research on Digital Public Infrastructure initiatives, particularly in the education sector.
- Support the development of briefing materials, summaries, and knowledge products.
- Assist in organizing DPI-related meetings and events (e.g., logistics, documentation, outreach).
- Help prepare materials and contribute to background research for the Global DPI Summit 2025.
- Attend internal team meetings and external webinars/events when possible, summarizing key takeaways.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned, based on interest and availability.
COMPETENCIES
Interest in and basic understanding of Digital Public Infrastructure.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Event management skills.
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
Education: University degree in business administration, business computing, management information systems, project management, information technology, telecommunications or a related field.
Experience: No work experience required.
Languages: English at advanced level.

Unpaid internship.

Please note that a non-remunerated Internship position at ITU does not carry the same conditions of employment as a short-term or a fixed-term position. Mandatory Medical Insurance, travel expenses, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or sponsoring institutions.
