ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT
The Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) fulfills the objectives of the Union relating to telecommunication standardization, by providing secretariat support to groups studying technical, operating and tariff questions and facilitating the adoption of Recommendations in these areas with a view to standardizing telecommunications and information technology on a global basis. In order to achieve these objectives, the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau works in accordance with the instructions of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assemblies (WTSA), Telecommunication Standardization Study Groups and the Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group. TSB, headed by an elected Director, provides the technical, administrative and logistic support for the assemblies and for the meetings of the groups mentioned.
Within the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB), the Telecommunication Standardization Policy Department (TSP) is responsible for the policies guiding ITU-T and the maintenance of its relevant position in the global standardization arena. It oversees the implementation of the WTSA Action Plan, and is responsible for identifying emerging technologies and analysing technology trends in order to advise membership on emerging standardization developments. The Department is also responsible for the bureau's communication, human resources, finance, membership functions, academic initiatives and the ITU Journal, a periodical dedicated to research topics in telecommunication and ICTs.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
AI for Good, an initiative of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), is at the forefront of using artificial intelligence to address global challenges, from climate action to health and education. By bringing together leading innovators, policymakers, and researchers, AI for Good aims to leverage AI to achieve the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
TERMS OF REFERENCE
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Communication and Partnerships Support Intern to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing, communication, event organization, and partnership management within a dynamic international environment.
The Communication and Partnerships Support Intern will assist the AI for Good team in various activities that support our communication and partnership-building efforts, including:
- Content and Presentation Development: Support the creation of visual and marketing materials, such as PowerPoint presentations and promotional content, to maintain a consistent brand identity and effectively communicate key messages.
- Sponsorship Support: Assist in researching and identifying potential sponsors, preparing sponsorship materials, and coordinating communications to build and maintain strong relationships with partners.
- Merchandising Inventory Management: Manage and maintain inventory for AI for Good branded merchandise and promotional materials. This includes tracking stock levels, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring merchandise is available and properly displayed for events and campaigns.
- Event Support for Merchandising: Assist during the AI for Good Global Summit 2025 by supporting the sale and distribution of merchandise. Responsibilities include setting up and managing the merchandise booth, engaging with attendees, processing sales, and providing customer service.
- General Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and managing correspondence to support the overall workflow of the team.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
Education: Currently pursuing or has recently completed studies in marketing, communication, business administration, international relations, or a related field.
Experience: No work experience required.
Languages: English at advanced level. Working knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish), with excellent knowledge of written and spoken French being an asset.

Please note that a non-remunerated Internship position at ITU does not carry the same conditions of employment as a Short-term or a Fixed-term position. Mandatory Medical Insurance, travel expenses, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or sponsoring institutions.
