ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT

 

The Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) fulfills the objectives of the Union relating to telecommunication standardization, by providing secretariat support to groups studying technical, operating and tariff questions and facilitating the adoption of Recommendations in these areas with a view to standardizing telecommunications and information technology on a global basis. In order to achieve these objectives, the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau works in accordance with the instructions of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assemblies (WTSA), Telecommunication Standardization Study Groups and the Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group. TSB, headed by an elected Director, provides the technical, administrative and logistic support for the assemblies and for the meetings of the groups mentioned.

 

Within the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB), the Telecommunication Standardization Policy Department (TSP) is responsible for the policies guiding ITU-T and the maintenance of its relevant position in the global standardization arena. It oversees the implementation of the WTSA Action Plan, and is responsible for identifying emerging technologies and analysing technology trends in order to advise membership on emerging standardization developments. The Department is also responsible for the bureau's communication, human resources, finance, membership functions, academic initiatives and the ITU Journal, a periodical dedicated to research topics in telecommunication and ICTs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In the (AI for Good) team within the Strategic Engagement Division (SED) of the Telecommunication Standardization Policy Department (TSP), under the supervision of the Head of SED, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

  • Support social media, communication and digital marketing content creation for AI for Good (AI4G): https://aiforgood.itu.int; (e.g. preparing/scheduling posts, monitoring/responding, copy/image preparations etc.).
  • Support content creation on (AI4G) social media channels (e.g. LinkedIn page/group, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Medium).
  • Design and produce visual assets for AI4G online events and webinars (e.g. Adobe illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Lumen5).
  • Provide support to the team in the drafting of the (AI4G) weekly newsletter and Global Summit promotional newsletter.
  • Provide support to the (AI4G) team in organizing media partnerships.
  • Draft and edit a diverse range of articles, including news updates, in-depth features, promotional content, and informative webinars.
  • Design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for our website, aiming to enhance user experience and engagement.
  • Craft diverse multimedia content, including visual graphics, GIFs, long-form and short-form videos, event promotional banners and podcasts, tailored to specific audience needs and platforms.
  • Coordinate the creation and management of the 'AI4G' podcast series, proposing compelling episodes, repurposing existing content for promotion, and expanding our global listener base (e.g. YouTube podcast, Spotify).
  • Liaise with suppliers, researching contracts for event-branded merchandise, and crafting innovative, memorable designs.
  • Proactively identify, initiate contact with media partners and contribute to the promotion of the summit across various channels.
  • Apply best practices from Ai powered communications tools and products.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

 

Education:

University degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field OR education from a reputed college of advanced education, with a diploma of equivalent standard to that of a university degree in one of the fields above.

 

Experience:

At least one year of experience in a role in marketing and/or communications/social media. Higher university degrees in related fields can be considered as a substitute for one year of working experience.

 

Languages:

Knowledge of one of the six official languages of the Union (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish) at advanced level and knowledge of a second official language at intermediate level. Knowledge of a third official language would be an advantage. (Under the provisions of Resolution No. 626 of the Council, a relaxation of the language requirements may be authorized in the case of candidates from developing countries: when candidates from such countries possess a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the Union, their applications may be taken into consideration).
