ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT
The Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) fulfills the objectives of the Union relating to telecommunication standardization, by providing secretariat support to groups studying technical, operating and tariff questions and facilitating the adoption of Recommendations in these areas with a view to standardizing telecommunications and information technology on a global basis. In order to achieve these objectives, the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau works in accordance with the instructions of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assemblies (WTSA), Telecommunication Standardization Study Groups and the Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group. TSB, headed by an elected Director, provides the technical, administrative and logistic support for the assemblies and for the meetings of the groups mentioned.
Within the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB), the Strategic Engagement Department (SED) is responsible with leading the Bureau's community engagement, marketing, and communications efforts, including pioneering “emerging technologies” initiatives like the annual AI for Good Global Summit, and utilizing innovative tactics for membership recruitment and business development to establish ITU-T as an agile, forward-looking, and innovative standardization platform. The Department is also responsible for the Bureau's, academic initiatives and the ITU Journal, a periodical dedicated to research topics in telecommunication and ICT.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The purpose of the consultancy is to assist the Strategic Engagement Department (SED) in project implementation of the AI for Good Global Summit 2025, as well as the necessary project coordination follow-up after the event.
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Under the direction of the Online Community and Business Analytics Officer, the Consultant will:
- Provide support with the general coordination of the AI for Good Global Summit with participant registration processes, managing relationships with speakers, sponsors, and volunteers/students, and providing them with timely and relevant information. Maintain follow-up to guarantee seamless event communication and engagement.
- Coordinate the Canvas of the Future project and relevant AI Art projects.
- Help develop and implement a system to track relevant internal programming and logistical requests and processes.
- Provide business analytics support including monitoring basic usage and event statistics and updating reports with updated numbers.
- Assist in the maintenance of the AI mailing list and email inbox, ensuring timely and quality responses.
CONCRETE DELIVERABLES
- Contribution to the successful implementation and follow-up of the AI for Good Global Summit 2025.
- Improvement of internal tracking and project systems in collaboration with the team.
COMPETENCIES
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education:
University degree in business administration, communications, marketing, international relations, or a related field OR education from a reputed college of advanced education, with a diploma of equivalent standard to that of a university degree in one of the fields above.
Experience:
At least six (6) months of demonstrated experience in event coordination, management, business, or marketing.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
Languages:
Knowledge of English at advanced level. Knowledge of a second official language of the Union (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) would be an advantage.
REMUNERATION INFORMATION
CHF 5 000.- per month.
