ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT

 

The General Secretariat directs all the administrative and financial aspects of the Union's activities, including the implementation of the provisions of the administrative regulations on operational questions, the dissemination of information on telecommunication matters for operational and other purposes, the provision of legal advice to the Bureaux of the Union and the departments of the General Secretariat, logistic support to the Union's activities including conferences, the coordination of the work of the Union with other international organizations, the dissemination of information to the Member States and Sector Members, press, corporate and individual users of telecommunications and the general public. The General Secretariat is also responsible for the organization of world telecommunication exhibitions and forums.

 

The TELECOM Secretariat is responsible for the planning, organizing and executing of all ITU Telecom World Events. These events are major global information and communication technology (ICT) exhibitions and associated forums, and help keep ITU's Member States, Sector Members and other key players informed of the latest advances in ICTs. Through an exhibition for digital solutions, forum for sharing knowledge, and networking opportunities connecting nations, organisations and individuals, ITU Telecom World events provide a global platform for governments, corporates and small and medium enterprises to come together, power social and economic development, create collaborative opportunity and stimulate industry growth.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

It is one of the fundamental roles of ITU to build confidence and security in the use of ICTs. This includes the goal of connecting the unconnected and ensuring the safe and meaningful use of digital technologies for all communities. Over the past years, the ITU has conceptualised and implemented numerous Cybersecurity strategies, initiatives and programmes, such as the National Computer Incident Response Teams (CIRT), Child Online Protection (COP), and the Global Cybersecurity Agenda (GCA) Framework.

Under the supervision of the Regional Director of ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific and in close coordination with the ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific Cybersecurity focal point, the intern will:

  1. Conduct research and data analysis, including:
    1. drafting and editing reports, briefings, and documents; refining/adding executive summaries, concisely highlighting key findings.
    2. preparing graphic-rich, high-quality PowerPoint presentations
    3. carrying out research in support of current projects and activities

 

  1. Support with coordination and communications activities, including:
    1. communications and promotion activities for the upcoming events
    2. take meeting minutes.
    3. developing content for the website.
    4. contributing and ensuring the visibility of virtual events, digital campaigns, and key activities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

Education: University degree in progress in relevant fields OR education in a reputed college of advanced education with a diploma of equivalent standard to that of an university degree in international relations, international development, international law, computer science, cybersecurity, or other relevant programs.

 

Experience: No experience is required.

 

Languages: Knowledge of English at advanced level is required. Knowledge of a second ITU official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) at an intermediate level would be desirable.

REMENURATION INFORMATION

Unpaid internship

Please note that a non-remunerated Internship position at ITU does not carry the same conditions of employment as a Short-term or a Fixed-term position. Mandatory Medical Insurance, travel expenses, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or sponsoring institutions.

The internship will be carried out in presence in the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, Bangkok, Thailand.
